Powda Day Tip
A quick moving storm came through overnight and we picked up 3-4" of POW! If soft snow tends to work you too hard it is time to readjust.
- Re-adjust your balance point by being in a neutral/ centered stance.
- Re-adjust the rotary control movements and stay in the fall line with slight directional changes...don't let the skis get completely across the hill because the next turn will be hard to start.
- Re-adjust the heavy edge set and work toward a lighter touch with the edges.
- Re-adjust pressure control movements, meaning try to stand on both skis and avoid complete outside ski dominance.
On powda days you sometimes find inconsistency in depth or density of the snow. You may find some hard stuff between the piles of snow or vice, versa. Work to have a firm connection between the ankle/ boot/ and ski so you don't get tossed around when the surface changes.
Give thought to re-adjusting your movements and stay connected but if the new snow is making you blue stop in to the Welcome Center and book a lesson. You will be much happier and enjoy the POW much more if you re-adjust your movements and tactics.
