A Marriage Made in the Stockade

There is such a rich local history here at Gunstock Mountain Resort. One of choosing to celebrate those cold winter months and get out and play, rather than hiding inside. This mentality not only nurtures our community in the Lakes Region, but it also spreads the love and grows that strong community as well.

We had a guest reach out letting us know that her in-laws were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on March 17th. Pepi and Katharina Herrmann were married 50 years ago in Gunstock’s Stockade Lodge surrounded by the many friends they made during their time as ski instructors here in the Ski School. Recruited by Egon Zimmermann and Penny Pitou, they emigrated to the United States from Austria and chose the Lakes Region to start their new life together in New Hampshire. While teaching skiing and raising their family here, they built their successful business, Pepi Herrmann Crystal, which continues to operate today.

Gunstock has remained a special place for the Herrmanns over the years, even after their ski instructing days were over. They are lifelong skiers and have been fortunate to share their love of snowsports with their children and grandchildren.

It’s stories like this that remind us that Gunstock is more than just a place to go skiing, snowboarding, and tubing; it’s a place where memories are made, relationships progress, and outdoor traditions are passed on from generation to generation.

We’d like to give a big, heartfelt shout-out to Pepi and Katharina Herrmann. We hope you two had a wonderful 50th Anniversary and we’re honored to have been the locale where you made it official. Cheers to you, and thanks for being part of our story!
